Santa Barbara Christian School strategically partners with several different service organizations to teach our children to serve our community, our nation, and our world. Below is a list of organizations we currently partner with and a description of the services they provide.
Soldiers Angels
Soldiers’ Angels is a volunteer-led nonprofit with hundreds of thousands of volunteers providing aid and comfort to the men and women of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, veterans and their families. Each year, SBCS adopts a unit overseas and sends them regularly scheduled care packages with notes of encouragement and gratitude along with items such as snacks, toiletries and other items that bless the men and women serving our nation in the armed forces.
Samaritan’s Purse
For over 40 years, Samaritan’s Purse has done its utmost to follow Christ’s command by going to the aid of the world’s poor, sick, and suffering. They are an effective means of reaching hurting people in countries around the world with food, medicine, and other assistance in the Name of Jesus Christ. SBCS partners with Samaritan’s Purse by participating in their Operation Christmas Child program. Each year our students pack gift boxes that are sent around the world to children in poverty who would not otherwise receive gifts at Christmas time.
The Unity Shoppe
The Unity Shoppe operates a year-round “Free” grocery and clothing store so people can shop with dignity for their basic needs. Over 1,700 volunteers help a small staff of 15. Over $2 Million in merchandise is distributed annually.
Laundry Love
Laundry Love People partner with local laundromats in cleaning the clothes of those living in shelters, motels, cars, garages and on the streets. It is their mission to take laundromats and convert them into hubs of relief, granting reprieve to those living in oppressive poverty through aid in education, basic medical care and assistance in job and housing placement.
Santa Barbara Food Bank
The mission of the Foodbank is to provide nourishment to those in need by acquiring and distributing safe nutritious foods via local agencies and providing education to solve hunger and nutrition problems in Santa Barbara County. During 2011, the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County distributed 11 million pounds of food from two warehouse locations in Santa Barbara and Santa Maria.
